Welcome to Albany Medical College
The residency program in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers a 48-month combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology training program and a 36-month Anatomic Pathology only training program. There are 14 pathology residents divided among the four years. Physicians may enter the program immediately upon graduation from medical school or at a more advanced level.
The goal of our residency program is to produce both academic leaders in diagnostic pathology and research, and well-rounded pathologists prepared for careers in community practice. Our educational objective is to ensure that each trainee acquires the basic and clinical acumen, skills, attitudes, and behaviors that are desirable in a well-trained pathologist. Our graduates complete the program with a comprehensive knowledge base such that they are well received by subsequent fellowship programs and future employers.
In addition to its outstanding curriculum, the residency program offers the chance to live in one of the nation’s most appealing regions. Albany is a multicultural community that welcomes people from all over the world. The region provides a safe environment that is close to major metropolitan areas, without the expense and frustrations often associated with life in large metropolitan areas.
Regardless of your religion, ethnicity, age, or interests, you will quickly discover that the Capital Region and our program offer a very special quality of life.
