Message from the Program Director

“We are here for the residents.”

This is the first item of business on each faculty meeting agenda. Residents in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Albany Medical College are trained by a core faculty of generalists and subspecialists dedicated simultaneously to superb patient care and excellent resident education.

Albany Medical Center is a large academic tertiary-care center with a catchment area of hundreds of miles, making our patient population both diverse and medically complex. Our residents benefit from this geographical location, as well as the dedicated faculty who are committed to educating our residents.

We have a robust didactic teaching program for our residents, including a half-day each week of protected teaching time. This includes traditional didactics, case-based learning, an outstanding simulation program, OSCEs and a Wellness curriculum. From the new interns’ barbecue to the resident fall retreat, we foster a sense of community between residents and faculty, and residents know that we care about both their training and their well-being.

Our residents chose Albany Medical College because they wanted a rigorous yet humane academic program where teaching is a priority. Our four-year residency program is fully accredited through the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and approved by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
