Neurology Residency

Fully accredited by the ACGME, our four-year Neurology Residency Program focuses on patient care, medical knowledge, systems-based practice, and practice-based learning and improvement, entrusting residents with gradually increasing clinical responsibilities.

Diverse Clinical Exposure, Robust Mentorship Program

The preliminary year of our four-year Neurology Residency Program is devoted to internal medicine. Residents will spend 6 weeks rotating on Neurology and 4 weeks in Psychiatry.

PGY-2 consists primarily of experiences on the various inpatient services, including general neurology, stroke, epilepsy monitoring unit, neuro ICU and pediatric neurology.

In PGY-2 through PGY-4, there are opportunities for rotations on subspecialty services, including Neuromuscular, Movement Disorders, Behavioral Neurology, MS, Pain, neuropathology, neuroradiology, research, and others for which residents may have particular interest. Our residents rotate through at 5+1 clinical schedule. They have one week of outpatient continuity clinic every 5 weeks. The remainder of their time is spent on inpatient and outpatient rotations.

On outpatient rotations, residents are the primary physician seeing several new and follow-up neurology patients each day. During hospital assignments, residents supervise and teach junior neurology residents, medical residents, and medical students. Residents also evaluate and manage both routine and emergency admissions, as well as provide consultations for other services.

Throughout the program, residents receive regular didactic and clinical instruction in neurology as well as subspecialty experiences. As knowledge and skills increase during the residency, residents are given greater responsibility in both patient management and resident education.
