Thriving Primary Care Practice, Rich Variety of Educational Experiences
Our Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program was established in 1980 and is one of the oldest such programs in the country. Albany Medical College, established in 1839, is one of the oldest medical schools in the country and adds to our rich academic environment.
Our program offers residents a rich variety of educational and professional experiences, environments, and opportunities.
Our thriving primary care practice is unique among the country’s combined residency programs and serves as the training ground for the residency continuity clinic. Med-peds faculty are very involved in the residency training program as well as teaching at the medical college, and each faculty member plays a very distinct role in our office and within the institution.
As part of the Albany Med Health System, our residents have access to an enormously varied and interesting set of clinical experiences, in both inpatient units and outpatient subspecialty clinics, where they encounter children and adults with common and rare diseases.
Our residents also work on various community outreach projects with our medical students, and actively participate in teaching during both inpatient and outpatient experiences.
Our graduates are highly competitive, well trained, and ready for whichever career path they wish to pursue including primary care, hospitalist medicine, or subspecialty training.
