How to Apply

The application deadline for this program is Dec. 31.

Thank you for your interest in our Internal Medicine Residency Program at Albany Medical College!

The goal of our Internal Medicine resident selection committee is to invite students who have the unique knowledge, skills, and experiences to deliver exemplary evidence-based care for our patients, raise the bar for education and innovation, and build upon our culture of wellness and support.

Our categorical program interview invitation selection process will preferentially start with those students who have utilized Gold Signals to convey their strongest interest in our program. Beginning with the Gold Signals we will also consider year of graduation (2022-2025), USMLE/COMLEX testing scores (Pass on Step 1/COMLEX 1, >=230 Step 2 and/or COMLEX equivalent, step 3 if completed), relationship with the greater Albany community, MSPE, unique attributes (personal statement, meaningful experiences, couples match applicants to Internal Medicine or other Albany Medical College programs, etc.), and LORs. Geographic preference is not a key component of our review, but we do love the hobbies section.

If there are an insufficient number of Gold Signals from exemplary applicants to fill our interview spots, we will review Silver Signals and follow the same review process as above. It is highly unlikely that we will review applicants who do not signal our program.

Our goal is to ensure that we can holistically review applications while also asking our applicants to deeply reflect on whether they feel that we are a program that will meet their unique learning and career aspirations.

Our first day of sending interview invitations is anticipated to be Oct. 7, 2024.

Our first day of interviews is anticipated to be Oct. 14, 2024.

A list of approved schools is available from the Graduate Medical Education Office.
