Welcome from the Program Director
Albany Medical Center is pleased to offer a three-year fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Clinical Nutrition.
The Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program at Albany Medical College provides the highest standard of training, during which fellows acquire the knowledge and skills to demonstrate expertise in their subspecialty.
The Gastroenterology Fellowship is sponsored through Albany Medical Center and the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, which are a block apart. Both hospitals care for patients with a wide variety of uncomplicated and complicated GI, liver, biliary, and pancreatic diseases. The endoscopy facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, including ERCP, EUS, Medtronic motility system and wireless capsule endoscopy. In addition, we have a collaborative team of interventional radiologists, surgeons, GI pathologists and GI oncologists to enhance patient care and the fellows’ educational experience.
Gastroenterology fellows evaluate and manage patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Research time is provided, and fellows use this time to work on projects with faculty members for presentations at national meetings. In addition, elective time is available for the fellows to explore other areas of interest in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Clinical Nutrition.
During the three-year program there are numerous conferences to enhance education and training, including topic reviews, clinical case conference, journal club, endoscopy conference, research conference and GI tumor board.
