Students will continue the clerkships that make up the Core Patient Care phase, as well as the longitudinal courses that continue throughout their education.
The Advanced Patient Care phase will be one full year beginning in April of year three for most students and ending in April of year four. Students much choose two 2–4-week blocks from the required advanced patient care clerkships, including:
- Advanced Care of Undiagnosed and Acutely Ill Patients (Emergency Medicine)
- Advanced Inpatient Care (sub-internship in Family Medicine, Medicine, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Pediatrics, or Surgery), and
- Critical Care (students choose MICU, PICU, SICU, or ICU)
