Nephrology Fellowship

Offering a two-year clinical fellowship and a three-year combined clinical nephrology/critical care fellowship with guidance from an experienced team.

About Our Program

The Department of Medicine at Albany Medical College welcomes your interest in the Nephrology Fellowship. The Division of Nephrology features extraordinary clinical and research faculty members and uses an array of institutional resources to foster outstanding training in all aspects of nephrology, dialysis, transplantation, and hypertension. Our patient population, laboratory and support teams are second to none, and established academic opportunities allow fellows to tailor their training to individual career goals.

One of our two yearly positions is dedicated for applicants interested in a combined track of two years of nephrology plus one year of critical care training. This track is provided with the collaboration of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. By the end of the training, the candidate is eligible for board certification in both specialties. Interested applicants will be interviewed by both nephrology and critical care faculty and fellows. This track will need to be ranked preferentially in the final National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Rank List. Applicants can additionally rank our two-year nephrology program as well.

The three-year program is aimed for applicants with interests in both specialties, with special emphasis in ICU nephrology and therapies related to it including continuous renal replacement therapy in its different modalities. Our goal is to provide comprehensive training in both specialties, and to prepare the trainee to succeed in positions that will offer the possibility of performing in both fields.
