Positions Available

A RESEARCH TECHNICIAN POSITION is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Michael DiPersio. The technician will participate in ongoing research projects in the areas of cancer and wound healing and will perform a variety of cell and molecular biological methods, including cell culture and transfection, recombinant DNA technology and PCR, western blotting, assessment of gene expression, development of high-throughput screens, and preparation/analysis of tissue samples. Although previous experience with some of these methods is desirable, training will be provided as necessary. Other primary responsibilities will include ordering lab supplies and maintaining lab records, training new lab personnel, general day-to-day lab management, and routine maintenance of a mouse colony. Salary will be commensurate with experience level. Applicants should send or e-mail their curriculum vitae and contact information for three references to:

A POSTDOCTORAL POSITION is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Michael DiPersio to study the roles of integrin cell adhesion receptors in cancer progression and metastasis. Our NIH-funded research program is focused on identifying post-transcriptional mechanisms through which integrins regulate cancer-promoting genes, towards our long-term goal of exploiting integrins as therapeutic targets. We use a variety of in vitro and in vivo models to investigate how integrin α3β1 on breast cancer cells regulates alternative mRNA splicing of pro-tumorigenic/pro-angiogenic genes, thereby controlling susceptibility to mRNA degradation pathways. Motivated candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent and a strong background in cell and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: recombinant DNA approaches; mRNA splicing/processing; high-throughput screens; in vivo tumor models. Applicants should send or e-mail their curriculum vitae, contact information for three references, and a brief description of past research to:
