Albany Medical Center has one of the most extensive general and specialty surgical practices in the Northeast. Our highly regarded surgeons are experts in their fields and collaborate together to provide the best solutions for patients' needs. Our surgeons can tackle the most complex operations necessary of a Level 1 Trauma Center or routine elective surgical procedures. They are also leading the way in using minimally invasive surgical techniques and technology, including robotic technology, that result in less pain and in a faster recovery time for patients.

Albany Med has a history of surgical achievements, including successfully performing the region's first robotic gastric bypass surgery and the first revolutionary artificial spinal disc surgery. We also have highly specialized pediatric surgeons who understand the emotional challenges that families face when a child must undergo major surgery.

We are growing to address the needs of our patient. We are currently expanding our surgical facilities and capabilities and are in the process of adding 20 new operating rooms with the most sophisticated surgical equipment available. In addition, we have relocated our surgical offices and surgical consultation into a new facility at 50 New Scotland, conveniently located across from Albany Med.
