Stroke Specialist Joins Albany Med Staff
ALBANY, N.Y., December 13, 2007 – Jennifer L. Yanoschak, M.D, a stroke specialist, has joined the multidisciplinary acute stroke team at Albany Medical Center and has been appointed associate professor in the department of neurology at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Yanoschak comes to Albany Med from Maine General Hospital’s Waterville and Augusta campuses. She received her bachelor’s degree in biopsychology from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and obtained her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After finishing her internship in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Dr. Yanoschak went on to perform her residency—and later became chief resident—in the department of neurology at MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. She also completed a fellowship in neurologic intensive care and cerebrovascular disease at MCP Hahnemann University.
Dr. Yanoschak has an interest in using thrombolytic therapy—the use of drugs to break up or dissolve blood clots—as a treatment for acute stroke patients and is an expert in the use of transcranial Dopplers to identify vascular disease in the brain. Dr. Yanoschak is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
The stroke team is available to respond for evaluation and treatment of stroke patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the emergency department and within the hospital's fully monitored Lally Neurological Observation/Stroke Unit.
