New York's capital region offers a host of opportunities for entertainment, sight-seeing, outdoor activities and cultural events.  Our residents and fellows enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities all available within a short distance of Albany Med's campus.

Albany and the Downtown District

From beautiful Washington Park to the historic Downtown District, Albany residents have their pick of activities, eateries and sightseeing opporunities.

Albany's Riverfront Park also plays host to a summer's worth of great musical entertainment via the city's Alive at Five concert series.

Out of Town

A short trip outside of Albany, in any direction, will yield a wealth of scenic vistas filled with opportunities to explore and experience the beauty of nature and the activities it provides.

New York's Adirondack Park is the largest protected region in the contiguous United States.  Comprising almost six million acres of public and private land, the Adirondack Park contains more than 3,000 lakes, 30,000 miles of rivers and streams and 2,000 miles of hiking trails.

There region surrounding Albany also offers many cultural activities.  All summer long, Tanglewood, in the nearby Berkshire area, hosts a variety of musical entertainment along with other performances.
